Why do you refer to him as D?
The Latvian government is very protective of it's children, and does not allow any posting of personal information during the adoption process.  So until D is ours, we can't post his full name or any photos.  We are hoping that once we are in Latvia, we can start posting more details.

Does D know he is being adopted?
He found out around the same time that we were given the court dates, so he has only known a very short time.

Does D speak English?
No.  They supposedly take some English in school but we've heard it's minimal.

Do you speak Latvian?
No.

How will that work?
Mime skills and Google Translate.  It should only take about 3 months for him to learn English once he is in the states.

Did you meet him when he was in the states a year ago?
No, he was hosted by friends of ours but we never met him at that time.  It wasn't until after he was back in Latvia that we were first told about him and heard his story.
