A Sweet White Elephant

Last night we had a Christmas party with the other Southeast Wisconsin Young Life staff.  Included in this party was a white elephant gift exchange.  As usual, we chose our gifts from the darkest corner of our basement where we keep piles of useless junk and then wrapped them all pretty like.  But when the white elephant started and the gifts were opened one by one, it seemed that everyone else had brought NEW gifts (who does that??) and Fans and I looked at each other, mortified.  We were used to a completely different white elephant etiquette that involved wrapping up hideous junk, not bringing NEW presents bought from a non-thrift store.  But soon we realized that the presents were not only new, they were also all things an 11 year old boy would love...legos, nerf guns, a remote controlled car.  After about 5 gifts they couldn't hold in their laughter and revealed there was no white elephant gift exchange, all the presents were for D.  It was such a sweet surprise from some very dear friends and coworkers.  Thanks guys, for loving us well and loving on our soon-to-be son.  It was an awesome surprise.
